Iqwinder S. Gaheer is the Member of Parliament for Mississauga—Malton, first elected in 2021 and re-elected in 2025. A lawyer, son, and brother, he has lived in Peel since 1999, when his family was reunited in Canada. His father, a plumber by trade, had arrived in 1992 and went on to found a bath furniture business that still calls Mississauga—Malton home.
Iqwinder earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University's Schulich School of Business in 2015 and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 2019. During law school, he worked at the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and the Massachusetts Superior Court, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Human Rights Journal. Called to the New York Bar in 2020, he practiced commercial litigation at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York.
In Parliament, Iqwinder has served on the Standing Committee on Industry and Technology and the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security, which he also chaired. In September 2025, he was appointed to the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, which examines the work of Canada's national security and intelligence agencies.
Iqwinder believes deeply in the Canadian values of acceptance and opportunity. When his father arrived, those values were all he had, and all he needed. He works to ensure young people and families in Mississauga—Malton can stay true to who they are and have a real, fair shot at success.
